What the hell is going on with this emo trend crap?

i am really getting sick of this. i'm a mountain biker and i don't really hear much about it. then my friend gets hit on his upper arm with sisscors by some d****head in art cl and for the next three weeks is called emo. now i really want to know why the hell a disorder like that is so friggin popular.
