Manchester United boosted by the return of defensive stalwart Rio Ferdinand?

Yeah maybe .... You are right about Evans struggling against physical opponents like Zamora ... I watched Man U vs Fulham ... Zamora was the one who created Fulham's first goal ... Rio Ferdinand may have lost some of his form over the past 2 seasons or so but he still is among England's best Center Halves ( Center Backs ) ... He was a top cl Sweeper , had a lot of pace early on in his career ; also presented a goal-scoring threat when going up front for set-pieces ... Then Terry came along ; people forgot all about Rio ... I remember the hype when Man U bought Rio from Leeds United back in 2002 ( maybe , i am not sure ) ... Rio has lost his pace ; this fact was cruelly exposed by Craig Bellamy last season in the Manchester derby ... I have read the other answers ; while Rio is not the player he was 2 seasons back , he still can lend a lot of stability at the Man U back line ... I certainly do hope so for Man U's sake
